At Earl W. Johnston Roofing, we spend most of our days looking at the horizon from the tops of South Florida’s homes, from Fort Myers to Key Largo and everywhere in between. But on February 26th, our focus was firmly on the ground at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Under a bright Florida sun, a sea of thousands in Miami Dolphins’ teal gathered for a powerful purpose: the Dolphins Cancer Challenge XVI.
A Saturday to Remember
The annual event represents the care this community holds for each other, and the Dolphins Cancer Challenge 2026 was no different. More than 8,600 participants came out for the 5K walk/run, multiple cycling routes spanning from Miami to Coral Springs, and a rocking closing concert by Blues Traveler.
We are incredibly proud to share that our very own Lynne, Mike, April, and Jamie were among the many who laced up their sneakers and took to the pavement. At EWJRoof, we’ve always promised to show up for our community in person, and there was no better place to stand our ground than alongside those fighting for a cure.

A Historic Achievement: The $100 Million Milestone
The Miami Dolphins launched the Dolphins Cycling Challenge in 2010 to raise funds for cancer research at the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. In the inaugural year, the two-day event had 411 cyclists and raised just over $533,000. Now, 16 years later, the initiative has raised a grand total of more than $100 million.
At EWJRoof, we are honored to have celebrated this monumental achievement that helps care for our neighbors, friends, and families.
Living Proof: Why We Walk
Of the 8,600 participants this year, more than 500 were part of the Living Proof Program. These are the cancer survivors who have faced the unthinkable and come out the other side, due in part to the research funded by the DCC.
Seeing the “Living Proof” shirts throughout the crowd was a powerful reminder of why we walk. Their bravery and resilience are inspiring every single day—not just during a fundraiser. They serve as the ultimate motivation for our continued involvement in the South Florida community.

Our Commitment to South Florida
Earl W. Johnston Roofing has been a proud part of this community for 40 years. We’ve built our reputation on protecting homes from the toughest storms the Atlantic can brew.
However, being a community partner means more than just fixing shingles and sealing leaks. It means supporting the families inside those homes through life’s biggest fights. Whether it’s a hurricane or a diagnosis, we are here to stand with you.
Thank you to the Miami Dolphins, the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and everyone who joined local charity efforts this year. Together, we are one step closer to a cure.
